Top Cubbies as of 5/28/2016

Cubs' status line

52.9 71.8 266 140 33 14 0.9 1.3 CHN

BAT up, PITCH up, W-L up, UR down. UR was
+4.0 last week and it's down to 0.9 but that's
not even a problem. Nothing is a problem with
this team. Here are top Cubbies:

+014+ 2.56 Kris_Bryant_CHN 3B-LF
+015+ 2.52 Jason_Hammel_CHN PITCH

Arrieta has fallen to that robot who they call
Clayton Kershaw. Still everyone above is doing
great. No problems. Here are two guys almost
in top 100.

+105+ 1.28 Addison_Russell_CHN SS
+115+ 1.22 David_Ross_CHN CR

Ross was terrible last season and Russell keeps
hanging in there. No Cubbies in bottom 200. Yay!

The Cubs are on cruise control and kind of boring
so let's do the White Sox.

-5.1 21.7 208 186 27 23 2.9 1.3 CHA

BAT below average, PITCH above average. Their real WAA is:

WAA = W - L = 27 - 23 = +4

+010+ 2.65 Jose_Quintana_CHA PITCH
+034+ 2.10 Todd_Frazier_CHA 3B

As you can see, not a lot of good players on the White Sox.
They have some serious structural issues to work out even
though they are above 0.500. Here are White Sox in
bottom 200

-057- -1.45 Adam_Eaton_CHA RF
-176- -0.82 Alex_Avila_CHA CR
-177- -0.80 Erik_Johnson_CHA PITCH

Not good. Adam Eaton is an outlier above. He currently
has a +2.7 WAR. It was > +4 last week but someone must
have seen that and readjusted WAR like you can with
formulae that have no proof and everything is made up.

Most of Eaton's WAR value came from defense. WAR was siphoning
value from Sale and Quintana giving it to Eaton. Eyeballing
Eaton's OPS it has to be good. His BA=0.278 and OBP=0.359
yet he can't drive in or score many runs.

The Sox' real WAA = +4 . In my model all Sox players
must add to +4. Their top 3 players above add to around
+8 which means the rest of the White Sox WAA adds
to -4. Adam Eaton contributes -1.45 to that -4.

The White Sox are in the same dilemma as the Yankees
with Starlin Catros

-078- -1.26 Starlin_Castro_NYA 2B

Neither team probably recognizes there is a problem.
Right now it doesn't look like the White Sox have
the horses to take them into the playoffs. They really
need this guy to step up:
