My first reaction: Who the heck is Eddie Butler?!
Yikes! Not sure why or how the Cubs acquired him but he probably can’t do much worse than the guy they just put on the “disabled list,” Brett Anderson. This is probably Butler’s last MLB appearance if he doesn’t pitch well today. The Cubs are slightly less than away field disadvantage and might be the first time since the
NLDS NLCS that they’re an underdog.
Edit: They were last underdog against LAN with Clayton Kershaw pitching in NLCS.
Let’s look at team statuses:
The Cardinals have a PITCH team this year and Mike Leake is their best player.
Let’s lookup the lineup from each team’s last game.
Cubs have a slightly better lineup but far worse starting pitcher. The next few days the Cubs will be back at the start of their rotation. Good luck to Eddie Butler today.
